The world's first cross-border Gay Pride on 18 July 2009!
Auf Deutsch...    En français...

On Saturday, 18 July 2009, the Parade between Kreuzlingen (Switzerland) and Constance (Germany) is going to be world’s first Gay Pride to cross the border between two countries. The local LGBT community is very pleased to welcome international artists (e.g. Lilo Wanders and Ralph Morgenstern) and visitors from around the world in the beautiful region of Lake Constance.

The unique Parade sets off from the harbor of Kreuzlingen at 11:30 a.m., proceeds up to the main street, crosses the customs and heads towards the old town of Constance. After going along the streets "Obere/ Untere Laube", it continues through the old town until the place of the Pride rally (i.e. the Marktstätte).

The great Pride celebration starts in the town park of Constance (right at the shore of Lake Constance). The eclectic day program includes some well-known personalities, a memorial service and a big final party (also right at the shore).

Since the world’s first cross-border Pride received wide publicity at the EuroPride 09 in nearby Zurich, the response should be overwhelming. It is desirable that not only the LGBT community in the region of Lake Constance move closer together but also the nations and citizens in the heart of Europe.

The Pride is preceded by the cultural week (from 11 June to 17 June 2009), which includes a sports event, open-air cinema, an art exhibition, a literature evening and a guided tour of Con-stance from the perspective of LGBT people. The events are going to take place alternately in the town area of Kreuzlingen and in Constance.

The organizing committee of this extraordinary event, i.e. the LGBT societies CSD Kreuzlingen and CSD Constance, is very pleased about the excellent cooperation with the local authorities. This is also evident in the fact that the Pride enjoys the patronage of the mayor of Constance.

The world’s first cross-border Gay Pride on 18 July 2009 aims to increase acceptance of sexual minorities and their civil rights and to provide a basis for a mutual understanding beyond boundaries. In every sense, this Pride is also a political statement against boundaries, bounds and barriers!

About CSD Kreuzlingen

CSD Kreuzlingen is a partner society of CSD Constance. CSD Constance organizes the Pride events in Constance (Germany) every two years. The goal of both societies is to inform the public about the conditions of minorities, especially LGBT people.

Through active PR and a sophisticated marketing concept, the two LGBT societies draw attention to their clientele and themselves – always aiming to inform about the lifestyles of the LGBT population in a realistic way and break down preconceptions. This way, we not only achieve our societies’ goal but also give Kreuzlingen and Contance a cosmopolitan air.

According to police estimates, the Pride through the old town of Constance involved about 5,000 participants in 2007.
